My Kingdom is not of (or from) this world… my kingdom is from another place…

  Quick… who said that?  Maybe you are thinking “Thor” from the “Avenger’s.”  Maybe an alien from a far-away place?  We may expect to hear next… “Take me to your leader!” Right? Not of this world… and from another place.  Does that mean something hostile… or something good, something beneficial?  What could someone mean by such a statement? 

  Well… you may be surprised that it was Jesus Christ who made that statement.  And He spoke it in the presence of Pilate, the Roman “king” of that region… just hours before the crucifixion.  But Jesus was no alien… nor was Jesus some superhero god from a foreign universe.  He is the very God who spoke the universe into being, making a very intentional, personal visit. 

  The once perfect, united kingdom of heaven and earth became divided when Adam & Eve fell.  Earth is now fallen, along with everything in it.  Jesus is not from “that” kingdom, the fallen one.  He is from the one that is still perfect… and although His Kingdom is not from this world… His kingdom is for this world.  He came to redeem it, and His death and resurrection would do just that. As we approach the Easter Season, may we remember…  Jesus is more than a superhero… He’s our Savior.  And that’s … real life. ~Pastor Steve Rowe – Eaglebrook Church
