Real Life with Pastor Steve

Freedom is such a wonderful thing, one of the blessings in our lives.  May we choose to be responsible with the freedoms we have been given.

  We are about to launch into the weekend before the “4^th of July” – the celebration of our freedom as a country.  It’s a good time to reflect on the value and blessing of that freedom.  And it’s also a good time to learn from our mistakes. Where we have abused or taken advantage of our freedom. So… may we use our freedom to love and show respect… rather than to be hateful, rude, and disrespectful.   May we use our freedom to serve those around us, rather than feeling entitled and demanding that others serve us.  May we use our freedom to celebrate responsibly, without risking the well-being of ourselves or others.  May we use our freedom wisely, and as a reminder to live with integrity… rather than making freedom an excuse to live without integrity.

  The same could be true, and even more so, with the freedom that is offered in and through Jesus.  In his letter to the Colossians, the Apostle Paul reminds us that this incredible gift (of freedom in Christ) we’ve been given… does not give us an excuse for bad behavior.  It gives us the ultimate motive, for our best behavior.  And that’s …real life.   ~Pastor Steve Rowe – Eaglebrook Church
