What does your I.D. say about you?

  We all have some form of I.D.  A drivers license, a passport, a backstage pass, a security clearance, an employee or staff I.D., a student I.D., etc.   Your I.D. tells people a little about who you are, where you are from, who you represent, whose authority you are operating under, what access or clearance you have.  In most of these cases, there was a time when you did not have this I.D., and therefore did not have the privileges that came with that.  Then at some point, through some process, that changed.  And what was not available before… is fully available to you now.  A whole new world of possibilities.  I still remember the day that I drove my mom and dad’s car by myself.  It was a new day! My new I.D. said – this 16 year old kid can drive!

  Well, the Apostle Paul uses this same idea for those who are followers of Jesus.  We are to live our lives, as representatives of Jesus.  Our identity, our I.D., is found completely in Him. And it is our words, and our actions… that are supposed to be what verifies this I.D.  Our kindness, love, grace, compassion, mercy, hope, life.  Our thankfulness and gratitude.  Loving God and loving others with everything we have.
