    Real Life with Pastor Steve

    July 7, 2023

‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

The words of Jesus.  They were not meant to give us all some kind of guilt trip for not doing enough… they were simply meant to remind us that there are a lot of needs in this world.  Because no, we cannot do everything… but… we can do something.   Sometimes, yes, it is financial assistance.  But other times, it is simply kindness, an act of unconditional love.  Another way is giving your time. I marvel at the number of people who serve in our local food pantry here in the Northwoods, or a place like Caritas.  Hearts of compassion on display.

Orphan care is another incredible way to care for those in great need.  Some choose to foster, some adopt, some help those who do, and some … work in orphanages where they can care for a larger number of orphans on a regular basis.  That’s the story of Jim & Lynn Moomy – our speakers this coming Sunday.  They felt called to love and care for many of the orphans in South Africa, and they run an orphanage down there.  Their vision is to “to change the life of the orphan one child at a time.”  May they inspire us all to have a heart that cares… that shows love in some way… even if just in a small way… to the “least of these.”

And that’s …real life.   ~Pastor Steve Rowe – Eaglebrook Church
