Real Life with Pastor Steve

We all have those comical, “airhead” moments from time to time, where we are totally “clueless.  However, if it becomes a lifestyle, we can put ourselves at risk and in unnecessary danger. 

  Another way of saying that is… in whatever arena of life that we are in… we need to increase our awareness to minimize the hazards of being clueless.  Drivers ed class teaches kids to be aware of the weather, the driving conditions and of the drivers around you.  We teach our children not to take candy from strangers.   Athletes are trained to be aware of their teammates as a play is developing, and of what the opposing team is attempting to do.  And of course, there are examples in business, in relationships, and yes, even in how we are to live our lives in general. 

  In his letter to the Colossians, the Apostle Paul knew that we don’t know everything.  That we can be clueless from time to time.  But to keep us from the hazards, we are called to pray… to stay connected to Jesus.  We are called to be alert, to know how to respond in a variety of situations.  And that increased awareness allows us to be more appreciative and thankful, more gracious, rather than “missing” it or having it go over our heads.  Our speaker this Sunday, Mike Moran from Elmbrook Church in Brookfield, will be continuing that theme.  And that’s …real life.   ~Pastor Steve Rowe – Eaglebrook Church
