Have you ever had a situation in your life personally, or looked at this world of such pain, suffering, and death, and wondered … “Where are You God?”

  Every one of us has probably been there.  I remember dealing with the 7 miscarriages that my wife and I endured over the years… asking that question several times.  It’s just a normal response. When you see the fallout in people’s lives from abuse, neglect, betrayals, it’s just a normal question.  When health issues lead to difficult treatment, and still… sometimes death… it’s a normal question. So much pain, loss, mourning and grieving.  We long for a day when all this type of stuff will end.  We long to be comforted.  We long for a God who actually cares. The older I get, the more I realize… that there are only a few guarantees in life.  Death and mourning are two of them.  Bummer, right? But… in the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus offers us another guarantee.  He says “blessed are those who mourn… for they will be comforted.”  The guarantee of the pains of this broken world… is met and overcome… by the guarantee of our comfort.  We ask, “Where are you God?”  And Jesus says, “I am right here.  I came, so that one day, all of this stuff will end. Your guarantee of comfort is in Me… now … and in the future!”  Let Him in to your hurt, and let the comfort and healing begin. And that’s … real life. ~Pastor Steve Rowe – Eaglebrook Church
