He is Risen!  He is Risen Indeed!!!

   That familiar greeting on Easter Sunday has been used for nearly 2000 years.  The pinnacle of our faith rests upon that singular fact… that Jesus Christ indeed died on what we call “Good Friday.” And that He rose to life three days later. 

   The Apostle Paul wrote that if the resurrection of Christ did not happen, then our faith is pretty much useless.  He goes on to say that if Christ had not been resurrected, that anyone who declares it would then be considered a false witness. 

   Those are some strong words.  False witnesses, according to the Old Testament law, were to be stoned to death.  Paul was willing to put His life on the line for a truth that He knew. 

   Peter and the other apostles did the same thing.  They were proclaiming something so outlandish, so utterly contrary to common belief and practice, that to do so would either indicate they were crazy, or they were telling the truth.

   And truth it is. Everything Jesus had lived… everything Jesus had taught in just three short years of ministry… everything He had modeled for us… culminated on a wooden cross and an empty tomb... all for you.  The pain and grief of Good Friday… lead to Resurrection Sunday… where death is defeated!  May that bring you joy this Easter weekend.  And that’s…real life.  ~ Pastor Steve – Eaglebrook Church
