    Real Life with Pastor Steve

    September 9, 2022

How many of you have ever gotten distracted while you were playing a game with family or friends… and they gently remind you… “hey, it’s your move!”

And we’re like, “doh!”  sorry!  Right?  I know I’ve been guilty a time or two of daydreaming… or maybe … worried about something… where it just distracts me from the game, from the people I am interacting with, from the point of what I am supposed to be doing.

But if we are being honest, moments like that happen all throughout our lives. At work, in our relationships, in our culture and society… in the areas of things like love… kindness, compassion, generosity, forgiveness… doing the right thing.  We get distracted… or we feel like we will “move” after someone else has moved… after someone else has apologized… after the bullies have stopped being bullies… after the dust settles.  But as we look at the words of Jesus in what is often referred to as the “Golden Rule”… it is always your move… your move to love God with all your heart… and to love your neighbor as yourself.  This world can be cold, mean, heartless.  It can distract you and suck the life out of you, and make you forget the ‘point’ of why we are here.  We are here… because it is still… your move… regardless of circumstances, regardless if someone else does the right thing or not.   The question is … will we take it?   And that’s…real life. ~Pastor Steve – Eaglebrook Church
