“At the end of the day… you can eat well, exercise, do everything right… but you still die. So, what’s the point?” ~ Common question of humanity

Many of us try to avoid those types of questions.  But they seem to have come to the forefront lately, with an increase in depression, anxiety disorders, and even suicide.  Sometimes even basic stress can send us there.  This pit of despondency, hopelessness, despair.

It’s why many choose a common answer to this common question… “let’s eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we die!” But how does a life with zero responsibility, a life with no boundaries, actually help?  It doesn’t… which can actually compound the problem.

The Apostle Paul wrote squarely into this line of thinking in chapter 15 of 1 Corinthians. Apparently, people then struggled with this too. His answer was simple, yet profound.  The truth, the reality of, and the implications of… the resurrection of Jesus (which paves the way for our own resurrection)… makes all the difference.   If it is not true, then basically Paul says, “there is no point to life.” But since it is true, it gives life a whole new meaning, a true point. Renewal, the righting of all wrongs, the end of suffering.  It gives us a purpose that starts today, and lasts forever.  There is a point! And that’s … real life. ~ Pastor Steve Rowe – Eaglebrook Church
