So… whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God… and not for your own benefit, but for the good of others. Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ. ~ The Apostle Paul

When we are born, the world revolves around us.  People doddle over us, and are there to meet our every need. It is healthy, and part of normal human development.  However, even in the best of nurturing environments… we need to grow out of that self-focus.  Toddlers and young children have to be taught how to share… that others exist in this world besides them. Children who never learn that skill grow into adults who still think the world revolves around them.  But it’s not too late to learn… even for those adults. That’s the point behind the Apostle Paul’s challenge.  For young children, moms are most often the one who models for us. Moms often sacrifice time, energy, money, careers, physical health, and beyond… to serve someone, to benefit someone, other than themselves.  Moms hardly say it, but by their life they are telling us… follow me… follow my example.  Make the hard choices.  Share. Serve others.  Live for a higher purpose. So, “thank you” moms!  And the Apostle Paul points to the ultimate, higher purpose. Living all of our lives for the glory of God, for the benefit of others, as we follow Christ’s example. And that’s … real life! ~ Pastor Steve Rowe – Eaglebrook Church
