Resurrection … is so wonderful… such welcome news… because death is so real. 

   In this life and in this broken world, death seems to have the final word… the end to our dreams, the end to our future plans, the death and the end of a relationship, a job, your financial security, your health… death just seems to have the final word.  Death also seeps into our life choices, how we think, how we act.  It begins to taint everything about who we are… like a virus we cannot run from.  In other words, death does not just seem to have the final word, but it defines who we are and how we live.  Since death is already a given in our broken fallen world... it's not like we have to fabricate some unrealistic, lame scenario to make the resurrection look appealing.  We need resurrection… because of what we already know to be true.  See, the resurrection of Jesus literally tore a hole in human history and redefined, reset the perimeters for everything from that day forward.  Life in place of death… new lives in place of the old ones.  Comfort for those who mourn and grieve.  Purpose for those still living.  And it all started on that third day, and an empty tomb, as the author of life rose from grave… conquering death and giving the entire world hope.
