   We’ve all run into people… who by first impression and at the moment… are just grumpy, mean, sarcastic, lazy, incompetent, or just downright rude.  People at work, school, your boss, co-workers… cashiers … servers and wait staff… the person behind the airline ticket counter… wherever.  And our first temptation is to judge them.  Or worse, we treat them the same way they treated us… in a way… as if they were our “enemy.” I wonder if that’s why Jesus said to love your “enemies.”  Because you never know what others are going through, and it is easy to treat people that way.  Also, the Apostle Paul says that our real enemy is never “flesh and blood”… but all the other spiritual forces at play.  When we take out our angst against others… we just become part of the problem and not the solution.  We add to their burden, rather than making that burden lighter. The truth is… there are days when you are going through stuff…  days when you and I say things we would not normally say. And what we need more than anything at that moment, is love and grace. May we rise above the petty.  May we be discerning enough to see a bigger picture.  And may we simply choose to be kind.  Because you never know what people are going through.
