    Real Life with Pastor Steve

How should something be used?  Probably… the way that it was intended to be used, the purpose or function that it was originally designed for.

While I was exercising on an elliptical machine this week at the gym, a disclaimer on it caught my eye. It was something like “inappropriate use of this machine may result in serious injury or harm.”   In other words, use the machine for what it was designed for.  Here’s another example.  I know that we all have gotten frustrated with our computers and laptops at times.  And we may feel like tossing them against the wall.  However… even though it may make you feel better temporarily, tossing a laptop or an IPad like a frisbee does not usually end well.  It may actually end up hurting others. Now, we get that when it comes to machines and products that we as humans designed.  But, the Apostle Paul asks us in 1 Corinthians, what about the greatest creation that God has designed… the human body?  Every unique piece of ourselves is by design… with one ultimate purpose, to know… and reflect God, to be the image of God in everything we do, including our relationships.  However, sometimes, we discard the disclaimer, and use our bodies for things we were not designed for… bringing both potential harm to either ourselves or others. May we rediscover and live within our original design. And that’s … real life.  ~ Pastor Steve Rowe – Eaglebrook Church
