    Real Life with Pastor Steve

    March 19, 2021

Be careful where you walk, and what you step in… because you will carry the smell with you wherever you go.

Dogs are wonderful animals… but they often leave a trail of “stuff” that create an obstacle course for those trying to take a basic walk.  If you’ve ever stepped in one, then you know how difficult it is to remove the smell.  Everyone knows, and if you want to come back into the house… the shoes will need to be removed, hosed down, and left outside to dry.  If the path is a familiar one… next time, a bit more caution will be exercised.  Learning, growing, changing.

The same is true for life in general.  Life can be a rather glorious thing, full of joy and beauty, full of positive people who encourage you to make wise choices and good decisions.  However, life also has its share of “stuff” that you can very easily walk into if you are not careful.  There are also all kinds of people, influences, voices, that will try to redirect you into making harmful choices… people who will step in the “stuff” and invite you to join them.  The only problem is… you wind up “stinking” just like them.  Worse yet, the longer you are with them, you can’t even tell. The good news is, through Christ, we can still change… be renewed… and begin to smell “fresh” again. Choose your steps, and your companions… wisely.  And that’s …real life. ~ Pastor Steve – Eaglebrook Church
