What makes you want to sing? 

  Now, some of you are like… me sing?  Ha!  No way.  I can’t carry a tune in a bucket!  And that may be true, most of the time.  But something makes everyone sing.  How about when you were trying to put your baby to sleep, and you sang a little lullaby?  Or maybe it’s a sporting event… maybe it’s falling in love.  Or… how about a song from the era you grew up in.  The 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, even the 90’s for some of you.  And before long, the song is halfway over and you’ve been singing the whole time. The two that do it for me every time are “Back in Black” by AC/DC or “Living on a Prayer” by Bon Jovi.  Or… maybe you don’t sing… until you’ve had a couple beers (hey – after all, it is Wisconsin).  Then Garth Brooks song “Friends in Low Places” comes on and you just can’t resist!  Believe it or not… we were all created to sing.  And all of us have something that moves us, even if briefly, to unlock that part of us.  Well, in his letter to the Colossians, the Apostle Paul tells us that we have been given a new reason to sing… when Jesus extends His love, forgiveness, and He transforms your heart.  Gratitude and thankfulness become a new reason.  And the result is that we actually encourage one another.  There’s a lot that could make us sing.  May it start… with Jesus.  And that’s …real life.   ~Pastor Steve Rowe – Eaglebrook Church
