The men who learn endurance, are they who call the whole world, brother. ~ Charles Dickens, English Novelist

It creates an experience or season or training that you share with others who have gone through the same thing.  Athletes, soldiers, cancer survivors, college grads, married people, those living in 2020… are all great examples.  Shared experiences that show life is a marathon, not a sprint. See, when you endure a shared experience, it reminds you that you are not alone.  You become more compassionate. You cheer others on.  You understand. You gain a sense of community and family.  Endurance also builds strength, health, and vitality… builds trusting relationships and friendships… and gives you the best chance of success afterwards. Now, one of the keys of endurance is having a reason to endure … who or what … you are doing it for. Some would say money or a diploma or a championship.  But better reasons are… your kids, your spouse, your parents, your health, the most vulnerable.  Reasons to endure.  The writer of Hebrews says “And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus.” That is the ultimate reason. Folks, life is a marathon, not a sprint. So as 2020 continues… keep your eyes on Jesus… keep loving your family and those around you… and we will endure… together! And that’s…real life.  ~Pastor Steve – Eaglebrook Church
