A smart person (full of knowledge), “knows” what to say… a wise person knows whether or not to say it.

There is a huge difference between knowledge and wisdom.   Knowledge is simply information, (which oftentimes is valuable and important). However, wisdom is knowing what to do with that information. For example… learning that a major storm is coming your way (snow, rain, tornado, hurricane)… is knowledge.  Knowing what to do to prepare and how to respond, is wisdom.  Getting a good education, or watching your favorite news source are other examples of gaining information.  However, wisdom is how you choose to use it, and to do so with integrity and good character. Going through a trial, a difficult time, a test… fills your life with tons of information.  However, wisdom fills your life with a way to live that honors God, and helps you make wise decisions in the midst of that difficulty. The New Testament writer, James, says, that “if any of you need or lack wisdom (not knowledge), ask God, and He will give it to you.” He is the source of wisdom. Knowledge may make you feel smarter, “more right” than others. Wisdom from God… makes you more loving toward others.  Wisdom makes you a better person.  Life is full of information. May we all seek to be be wise in how we live.  And that’s …real life. ~ Pastor Steve – Eaglebrook Church
