    Real Life with Pastor Steve

    January 15, 2021

The LORD your God is God of all gods … who is strong and wonderful.  He helps orphans and widows, and he loves foreigners and gives them food and clothes. You also must love foreigners, because you were foreigners in Egypt. Deuteronomy 10:17-19

This was a principle from Ancient Israel, and it reveals the heart of God for all of humanity… but specifically for the most vulnerable. Children, orphans, widows, foreigners and immigrants, the poor, even women in that time in history … those were the most vulnerable.  However, they were not to be looked over, forgotten, abused, abandoned, or taken advantage of.  They were to be protected, cared for, loved, and given the chance to be blessed by God’s life, and His love, through the words and actions of others.  Today, our list may be similar, but we would probably add… those negatively affected by racism, the unborn, the older generation, those with compromised health issues, children in foster care, just to name a few.  God makes it abundantly clear.  Those who are not included in the most vulnerable category have a God given responsibility to protect, care for, love, and bless those who are.  To share God’s life and love with them.  As we look at the needs and landscape of our world, may we choose life, God’s life. My we value all, and choose to bless. And that’s …real life. ~ Pastor Steve – Eaglebrook Church
