    Real Life with Pastor Steve

Have you ever felt insignificant?  Have your plans ever just been blown to pieces?  Have you ever felt confused or uncertain about what to do in a given situation?

If that has ever been you… or maybe it’s you right now… then take heart.  We can learn a couple things from the example of Joseph. He was engaged to a young woman named Mary.  He had plans, dreams, hopes.  Then… he hears through the grapevine that Mary is pregnant.  And he knows the baby is not his!  Talk about confusion, feeling insignificant, uncertain… just to say the least.  And yet, rather than treat Mary harshly, and without knowing any of the details yet, he chose to honor her by not publicly disgracing her.  He chose character and integrity, over anger and regret. It was a wise, honorable decision.  But the best was yet to come.

Finally, God lets Joseph in on what’s happening.  It still did not make any sense, but He trusted God enough to obey and follow. He and Mary get married. The child is born. Joseph gets the honor of naming Him… Jesus. Immanuel, God with us… in our confusion, when we feel insignificant, and as we trust, obey and reflect God’s character. May Jesus be “God with you” today in whatever you may be facing.  And that’s … real life. ~ Pastor Steve Rowe – Eaglebrook Church
