   The meek… who are often mistaken as weak… well… I guess they eat dust, eh?  At first we may want to cringe at that thought, but it does seem to appear that the world works that way, doesn’t it?  Those who are pretty, smart, organized,  talented… they survive.  Those with the power make the rules, those with money can buy themselves out of trouble. Those who know how to push and throw elbows and make sure that they get their fair share, they survive… they… inherit the earth.  Those who figure out a way to work the system to their advantage… they survive.  This same mentality crosses over into how we view God. We think “God’s love is somehow for those who deserve it.”  But the weak, the mild … the meek? What part of the pie is left for them?  Well, as Jesus sat on the hillside up the shores from Galilee, He makes a radical statement – one that I write to you today… “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.”  God’s kingdom is for those who don’t have it all together… for those who can’t earn it and muscle their way in. So, for those who do have the power, or strength… then this is a posture, an attitude, of humility, choosing to be meek in a “dog-eat-dog” world.  Because in God’s big picture… it’s the meek who not only survive… they thrive.
