Time to wake up… we’re finally here!

  Think back to a time when you planned a trip, a vacation to somewhere you’ve never been before.  Maybe it was when you were a kid, and your parents planned to take you to Disney World for the first time.  Anticipation… planning... excitement… and yes… a lot of waiting.  We can read brochures, we can look online, but nothing can quite prepare us for what it’s really going to be like once we get there.  It may look nothing like you thought… it may be 10X better… that’s part of the thrill. 

  Now imagine thinking that the trip was going to take place at some point at least 5 years from now… but instead you take what you think is a short road trip… maybe you drift off to sleep… then someone wakes you and says … time to wake up… we’re finally here!  Here… meaning that destination you were anticipating, but thought was still a long way off.

  Well… in a way, that’s what happened the day that Jesus sent His Holy Spirit.  Many of the things that were supposed to happen “someday,” were happening in the present.  It caught everyone off guard… but the news could not have been better.  We’re “here”… the Holy Spirit is here, the kingdom of God is available now to everyone.  And it’s just a foretaste… for the best is still yet to come!    And that’s … real life. ~Pastor Steve Rowe – Eaglebrook Church
