In times of difficulty, do you run from God, fight with God, or run to God?

There are all kinds of seasons in our lives.  Good seasons… boring seasons… frantic seasons… and difficult seasons, challenging seasons.  Each one reveals something about our character.  Each one also reveals what we believe about God, and about this world in which we live… but nothing quite like the difficult times.

Difficult times press our buttons, and what’s inside tends to come out.  Sometimes we blame God and feel like He should have done more, or that He should do more.  Other times we feel God is too intrusive and wish He would just stay out of our business.  So we often run from… or we fight God.  But can I make a case for the third option, running to God.  That’s what the Apostle Peter and the church in Jerusalem did in the 1st Century.  Imprisoned, and slated for execution, Peter was at peace… he ran to God.  The church gathered together to pray fervently, trusting regardless of the outcome… they ran to God.  King Herod Agrippa… who was behind this persecution… he was not at peace… he was fighting God… but ultimately, that’s a battle you cannot win.  And God surprised everyone by rescuing Peter. Don’t run from, don’t fight Jesus… run to Him!  And that’s … real life. ~ Pastor Steve Rowe – Eaglebrook Church
