    Real Life

    With Pastor Steve

The more insecure you are… the more you fear… and you tend to live your life protecting yourself from all rivals.

We all have insecurities in our lives somewhere… and we usually guard them, protect them like Fort Knox.  And when people begin to threaten them, we either crumble like a house of cards… or we blow up like an atomic bomb.  Either way, it’s not healthy.

Oddly enough, those in “charge”… are often the most insecure people in the world.  Their identity is often tied to their position, and they will do about anything to ward off any potential threats or challengers.  You’ve probably seen it at work or at the office.  Maybe it’s you.

That was never more true than in the first century with the Temple Priests of Israel.  They had, by definition… a temporary job.  It was meant to one day be unnecessary.  Not them… just their jobs.  But yet when the time came to actually hand over their “power” to the one who had fulfilled it – Jesus – they killed Him. Ironically, they did not base their security on real power, in actually knowing God… they based it upon on an illusion of power – their jobs.  How sad that is.  But we often do the same thing.  Are you threatened by others at work, home?  Are you threatened by Jesus? May you find worth, value and security beyond what you “do.” May you find it in the resurrected Christ. And that’s … real life. ~Pastor Steve Rowe – Eaglebrook Church
