    Real Life

You are blessed, so you can bless… loved, so you can love… restored, so you can restore… forgiven, so you can forgive…

It’s humbling to be the recipient of someone else’s kindness, their graciousness.  In some cases, the blessing is so large, there is no possible way to pay it back.  The giver, most often, had no intention of it being paid back anyway.  It is a gift.

Many things in life are gifts… things that we could not have earned if we tried.  And yes, those gifts are to be enjoyed, treasured, and valued, simply for the joy that it brings. There is a time to receive.  However, if we live our life constantly as recipients, we can easily become “unthankful sponges” who begin to expect certain things as our rights.  That’s never a good thing.

So how do we keep that from happening?  We bless others, we love others, we offer restoration and forgiveness.  That’s what God has always had in mind for His people… from the old covenant… to the new covenant in Christ. The God of all Creation has blessed us beyond comprehension.  What should our response be? May we love the way He loves us, and may we be the blessing He has called us to be.  This world needs it. And that’s…real life.  And that’s … real life. ~Pastor Steve Rowe – Eaglebrook Church
