    Real Life with Pastor Steve

Does your life bring disorder, chaos to people… or … does it bring peace? May it bring peace, because peace reflects the character and nature of God. ~ The Apostle Paul – I Corinthians 14 paraphrase

Peace restores order, it seeks to eliminate chaos and confusion, and it wants to bring wholeness to people.  That should be one of our guiding principles.  That … is the long-game.  But with that long-game in mind, sometimes you have to make statements or decisions that seem a bit harsh or even a bit restrictive.  Not because you want it to stay that way, but because it is the initial step of restoring order, of bringing peace.  Parents often will say, “Stop what you are doing, and get inside right now!”  It does not mean that the kids can never go outside again, or ever ride their bikes or play basketball, or hang out with their friends.  It just means that something negative was happening that needed to be addressed.  And for a short while, those “rules” are in place.  Crisis management. We all do it.  The Apostle Paul did it. But like him, we need to do it out of love, and a greater goal, not to implement some new un-changing rule or policy… or else our “rule-books” will become encyclopedias.  Our goal, like that of the Apostle Paul, should be… for people to grow, learn, and re-launch. That is wholeness… real peace, and what reflects the character of God. And that’s … real life. ~ Pastor Steve Rowe – Eaglebrook Church
