Real Life with Pastor Steve

The most effective way to accomplish a collective mission, is to embrace and utilize our unique diversity, while at the same time operating under authority.
Whether you are the leader of your home, your classroom, your office, your team, your business, your community, your church… we need to tap into the unique strengths, skill sets, and diversity that God has blessed us with and created. We do not all see things the same way, and we are all not gifted with the same strengths. Everyone’s voice is an important one, and each person on the team has incredible value. However, there must be some kind of higher purpose that binds everyone together. That higher purpose defines how decisions are made, and which decisions are made (and which are not made). Wise leaders remind their “team”, whatever team you have… of that higher purpose. Wise leaders then make a decision, incorporating the input of others, but always in light of that higher mission. Without that, lines can be blurred, confusion sets in, factions and divisions begin to arise. We can so easily turn freedom into anarchy, and make diversity our purpose, rather than something that serves a higher purpose. The Apostle Paul had to deal with that on some very sensitive matters in his 1st letter to the Corinthians. Reminding us, that ultimately, we all come under God’s leadership, His authority. And that’s … real life! ~ Pastor Steve Rowe – Eaglebrook Church
