    Real Life with Pastor Steve

    December 7, 2018

We live in a chaotic and uncertain world. We still feel anger at evil, still sense a need for justice, and still long for peace.  ~ David & Joyce Schroeder, Missionaries to military families

That certainly describes our current world in which we live… but it describes the world in the 1st century… as well as the era around 700 BC in the life of Ancient Israel.  True and lasting peace seems so impossible, so elusive.  However… something occurred at the Advent… the arrival of Jesus.  Peace came to this earth.  Not in a program, not in a truce, not in a compromise… but in a person, Jesus Himself.  That arrival was promised and written down by the prophet Micah around 700 BC.  That from a small town called Bethlehem, would come a different kind of ruler.  One who would be a shepherd to his people.  One who would provide security.  One who would not just bring peace… but that He alone would be our peace.  We find our peace… in Jesus.  Not just rest from conflict or the absence of strife… but wholeness.  Because of the Advent of Christ, we can have peace with God, we can become instruments of peace with others. Those are a foretaste of the peace this whole earth will experience once He returns again.  May you receive, and may you give… peace… during this Advent Season!  And that’s…real life. ~Pastor Steve Rowe– Eaglebrook Church
